Opposition MP condemns detention of ARF activists
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction condemned the authorities for the “politically motivated” detention of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) activists.
Law enforcement officers raided the homes of a number of ARF members in Ararat Province and Yerevan early on Wednesday morning and detained some of them.
"The wave of home searches and detentions of ARF members should be considered against the backdrop of dangerous developments around Artsakh,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
He claimed the detention of ARF activists called “nationalists” by the Azerbaijani authorities was aimed at sending “positive signals” to Baku.
“I am sure that our friends and colleagues from the ARF will overcome these hardships as well, and it won’t affect their resolute struggle,” the parliament deputy said.
