Thursday's teleconference revealed substantial differences in positions of Armenian, Artsakh leaders, MP says
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem (With Honor) bloc has reacted to the statements of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) leadership at Thursday’s teleconference between Stepanakert and Yerevan, saying they revealed major differences in the positions of the two countries’ authorities on the Artsakh issue.
"The Artsakh authorities, as expected, harshly responded to Nikol Pashinyan's statements on Artsakh at his latest press conference. Most importantly, it was made clear that the positions of the Armenian and Artsakh authorities are significantly different and not mutually acceptable or harmonious, as Pashinyan claimed,” the deputy wrote on Facebook on Friday.
“Artsakh's approaches could not be consistent with Armenia's official stance, as it would actually amount to political suicide. Could they agree to surrender to Azerbaijan or physical destruction?” he said.
Abrahamyan stressed State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan called out Armenia’s leadership for “inadequate support” for Artsakh and urged all forces in Armenia supporting the principles underlying Artsakh’s struggle to take action.
“Unlike the Armenian authorities, Artsakh declares that the difficult situation unfolding in Artsakh is not a humanitarian but a political crisis, while its socio-economic manifestations are just a consequence,” the MP said.
