European Parliament to debate humanitarian consequences of Artsakh blockade
The European Parliament will hold an urgent debate on the humanitarian consequences of the blockade in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) next week.
It is part of planned debates on cases of breaches of human rights, democracy and the rule of law to be held at the parliament plenary session on January 18.
Large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor, the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, since 12 December to protest alleged illegal mining in Artsakh. The blockade has affected 120,000 Armenians, including 30,000 children, who are without access to food, medical supplies and other essential goods.
