Armenian expert: Most of government officials have no idea what they're up against
"Perhaps one of the reasons for our plight is that we failed to properly socialize our public regarding the conflict, including through relevant higher education courses," political analyst Armen Minasyan, the founder of the Profile Publishing House, said at the presentation of international relations specialist Hermine Mkhitaryan's book "Defeat as a Choice” on Saturday.
According to him, at that time there was a serious problem with access to sources, there were few people familiar with the matter and the details were kept secret.
Armen Minasyan highlighted Mkhitaryan's book "Defeat as a Choice" as another chance to “lift the curtain”.
"Information and knowledge are quite discrete, so it takes people to put together the small fragments and get the big picture. This book is one of those big pictures. It is intended not only for experts and journalists, but also, first and foremost, for those running the state. I'm sure that today the vast majority of those holding leadership roles in the country’s government have no idea what they're up against, especially at the middle level. So I would advise everyone, regardless of their political affiliation, to have a look at these facts and it's up to them how they will use them later for political purposes,” Minasyan said.
He called attention to the title of the book "Defeat as a Choice", especially to the word "defeat".
"Let's be honest and admit that we are living in a defeat mode. This book is not about history, it’s about our times, defeat continues to this day,” he stressed.
Hermine Mkhitaryan's book "Defeat as a Choice” has been published by the Profile Publishing House. It addresses Armenia’s diplomatic failures and policy mistakes after 2018, the 2020 war in Artsakh, its causes and consequences.
