Armenian analyst: We will achieve nothing if we sit idle by
Political analyst Karen Bekaryan believes any action could mark a breakthrough in the current difficult situation in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) blocked by Azerbaijan for more than one month. Meanwhile, he says he does not expect the Armenian authorities to take serious action to resolve the crisis.
“Nothing should be expected from the Armenian authorities, let's not make a fool of ourselves,” he told a discussion on Saturday, at the same time stressing the need to call out their “inadmissible inaction”.
"Of course, we should constantly speak out and bring it to the public's attention, but we should not expect any action and results from them,” Bekaryan said.
Speaking about the necessary actions and opportunities, the analyst stated: "First and foremost, every caring person, our compatriots and humanists around the world are faced with a question in such a situation: is there a chance to change anything or is everything depleted and predetermined? The latter is the approach of an idler, because it is the best excuse to do nothing.”
“Is any action taken, all the more so in the case of a devastating crisis which we are currently facing, guaranteed to deliver results? No, it is not that all paths that will bring results are clearly visible. The crisis is so deep that no action becomes meaningless, even if it does not bring the expected result. We have to believe that constant dropping wears away a stone.
“We will achieve nothing if we sit idle by. The ongoing process will bring opportunities, a little progress will open up new opportunities,” the analyst said.
