Head of Baku's Jewish community identified among 'eco-activists' blocking Lachin corridor
Rabbi Zamir Isayev, the chairman of the Georgian-Jewish community of Azerbaijan and the director of the Baku Jewish school, has been identified among the “eco-activists” blocking the Lachin corridor, the sole road linking Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia, for more than one month now.
“Here’s a purebred environmentalist… Rabbi Zamir Isayev, the chairman of the Georgian-Jewish community of Azerbaijan and the director of the Baku Jewish school,” Alen Ghulyan, an Artsakh Armenian, wrote on Facebook on Friday, sharing the man's photo.
Large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor since 12 December to protest what they claim is illegal mining operation in Artsakh.
