Politician reveals why Pashinyan rejected Davos forum
The leader of the Democratic Alternative Party, Suren Surenyants, has revealed why Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan refused to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos from 16 to 20 January.
In a social media post on Saturday, the politician claimed Pashinyan rejected Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s proposal to broker trilateral talks with him and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the forum.
"It seems to become clear why Pashinyan did not travel to Davos. This time he turned down Garibashvili’s proposal to mediate a trilateral meeting with Aliyev,” Surenyants wrote on Facebook.
“From Davos, Aliyev accuses Pashinyan of rejecting peace talks, while Mirzoyan belatedly responds to his claims, saying that "Yerevan is closely following the calls of the international community and is ready to engage in more intensive talks". Where are you heading to by avoiding negotiations in this way? Are you going to sacrifice young men’s lives again, so that you are not called traitors?” he said.
