EU envoy: Situation around Lachin corridor serious
Toivo Klaar, the European Union's special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, announced his visit to Armenia on Monday.
“Back in Yerevan for a day of meetings. The situation around the Lachin corridor is serious and solutions have to urgently be found. I look forward to discussions to explore ways forward,” he tweeted.
‘The EU's goal remains a comprehensive Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement,” the diplomat added.
Large groups of Azerbaijanis posing as eco-activists have blocked the Lachin corridor, the sole road linking Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia, since 12 December to protest what they claim is illegal mining operation in Artsakh.
