Artsakh’s State Minister Ruben Vardanyan issued a message on Armenian Army Day marked on January 28. His full message is below.

"Today, we celebrate the 31st anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Army. It is indeed a very important and meaningful holiday for all Armenians. The Armenian military’s role in defending the Republic of Armenia and, of course, keeping Artsakh Armenian is undeniable, which is a guarantee of protecting the Armenian world.

During the wars waged by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, many volunteers of the Armenian Army fought selflessly to defend Artsakh, preventing the policy of ethnic cleansing carried out against the Artsakh people.

I express my respect to those who sacrificed their lives for their homeland. Today, Artsakh, which is facing numerous challenges, proves that your unwavering dedication and self-sacrifice have made us strong and unbreakable.

I would like to conclude this message with the statements of the first defense minister of the Armenian Army, Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan addressed to us all: 'The army is the mirror of the nation's self-discovery, the birth of all Armenians, the collective image of the Armenian nation, their responsibility, reassessment of history and look into the future. I'm not saying nice words, I'm just telling the truth.'"
