Normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations a priority, Russia says
The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is a priority for Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in response to media questions on Monday.
"Russia, which directly borders the South Caucasus, is interested in the stability and prosperity of the region, the mutually beneficial use and exploration of its transport and logistics, trade and investment, as well as technological opportunities. This is what our diplomatic efforts are aimed at," the ministry said.
It underscored that Russia is taking intensive efforts to overcome the “conflict potential in the region.”
"In this regard, one of the priorities is the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. This is based on the statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia of November 10, 2020, January 11, 2021, November 26, 2021, and October 31, 2022. We are convinced that the success of the process depends entirely on the strict adherence to these trilateral agreements," the ministry noted.
