Lives of Karabakh Armenians in danger without swift action, lawyer tells UN court
Without immediate measures by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the lives of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Armenians are at risk, Lawrence Martin, a lawyer representing Armenia, said at the UN court hearing on the case Armenia v. Azerbaijan on Monday.
“The Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh has been almost entirely cut off from the outside world,” the lawyer told judges, urging immediate action to end Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin Corridor, the sole road linking Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world.
“They have been – and they continue to be – deprived of access to food, medicine and all the other necessities of life. Without swift action by the court their lives are in danger,” he stressed.
