Court hearing in Kocharyan's case again postponed
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on Tuesday again postponed the hearing in the case of second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, who is currently an MP from the opposition Hayastan bloc.
Presiding judge Anna Danibekyan said that interpreter Sona Hovhannisyan had notified her about her inability to attend the hearing for health reasons.
At the same time, the interpreter had submitted clarifications to the count regarding a number of terms contained in a document in English.
The defense lawyers and prosecutors were not satisfied with those explanations, thus the judge decided to postpone the hearing to 14 February to ensure the presence of an interpreter.
Kocharyan is accused of receiving bribes from businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan while in power. He denies any wrongdoing, calling the charges politically motivated.
