Drivers warned over snow and ice in Armenia
Some roads are closed or difficult to pass in Armenia as of Friday morning, the Rescue Service reports.
In particular, the roads linking the Amberd high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and Lake Kari in Aragatsotn Province are shut down.
Vardenyats Pass (from the side of Gegharkunik Province) is closed to trucks with trailers and difficult to pass for other vehicles.
The Dilijan bends are difficult to pass for trucks.
The Tigranashen turns, Sisian-Goris, Talin-Mastara-Lanjik roadways, as well as the roads of Gegharkunik Province, Abovyan and Yeghvard regions are partly icy.
Snowfall is reported in Vayots Dzor and Syunik Provinces (except for Kapan and Meghri towns).
According to the Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi highway connecting Armenia and Russia via Georgia is closed to all traffic.
Drivers are strongly urged to use winter tires.
