Oppositionist: Geopolitical bargaining at the expense of Artsakh people’s struggle unacceptable
A senior member of the opposition Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) blamed the Armenian authorities’ “incompetent” policies for the political and social disarray in the country.
“Public and political life has been turned upside down and has overturned everything in recent years, including in Artsakh," Artak Zakaryan told parliamentary hearings on an opposition resolution on Azerbaijan’s Artsakh blockade on Friday.
He stated the Armenian authorities deliberately pursued “reckless and incompetent” polices over the past four years.
"You couldn't have made so many mistakes accidentally," Zakaryan said, stressing that there are no authorities who wouldn't make mistakes, but the incumbent Armenian authorities keep making “systematic mistakes that have no political explanations."
Touching upon the Artsakh issue, Zakaryan said: "Geopolitical bargaining at the expense of the Artsakh people's existential struggle and political adventures against the security of Armenia and Artsakh are unacceptable to us. We categorically reject any agreement which would ignore the right of the Artsakh people to self-determination and the prospects of its international recognition.”
