Pashinyan: Armenia ready to provide assistance to quake-hit Turkey
Nikol Pashinyan offered condolences to the families of the deadly earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria and expressed Armenia’s readiness to provide assistance to the countries.
“Saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria that resulted in the loss of so many lives,” the Armenian premier said in a tweet on Monday.
“Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Armenia is ready to provide assistance,” Pashinyan added.
More than 500 people were killed and thousands injured on Monday, after a major earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck central Turkey and northwest Syria, collapsing buildings and triggering searches for survivors in the rubble, Reuters reported.
Two ethnic Armenians were identified among the quake victims in Aleppo.
The quake, which hit in the early darkness of a winter morning, was also felt in Cyprus and Lebanon.
