Armenian MP: Azerbaijan has no resources to keep Artsakh blocked for a long time
Azerbaijan lacks the necessary resources to continue blocking the Lachin Corridor linking Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia for a long time, claims opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan.
"The sole road connecting Armenia to Artsakh remains blocked. Despite the internal redistribution of resources in Artsakh, the situation remains difficult,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
The deputy, who represents the opposition Pativ Unem bloc, underscores Azerbaijan lays out maximalist demands in talks on the re-opening of the corridor, pushing the process to a standstill and blocking any opportunities for progress.
“As long as Azerbaijan does not return to a relatively constructive field, there is no opportunity to settle the crisis,” Abrahamyan said.
“Logically, Azerbaijan has no resources to continue blocking the corridor for a long time. At some point, it will cause serious problems in terms of the international perception of the situation. Whether Azerbaijan is ready to continue the blockade in these circumstances is a matter of difficult choices,” he added.
