Turkish opposition reporter hits out at Erdogan for failure to visit Hatay
Turkish opposition reporter Can Serhat Halis has hit out at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his failure to visit the southern Turkish province of Hatay hit hard by Monday’s devastating earthquake.
Halis, a vocal government critic, has strongly criticized Erdogan's foreign policy amid a difficult situation caused by the quake and highlighted that the Armenians and Greeks, who Erdogan calls “enemies” came to Turkey to help in search and rescue operations, Arevelk.am reported.
“You said that you would reach Damascus in half an hour and Athens in an hour. However, you have not been able to reach the victims of Hatay for 48 hours now,” he said. “Those whom you call "Armenian seeds" and "Greek generations" have come to Turkey and are working in cold weather to save your citizens. You have to at least show some respect to them.”
