International attention to Artsakh blockade dwindling, MP says
The attention of the global community to Azerbaijan’s blockade of Artsakh is dwindling, says Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday, he claimed the international community and especially the major players in the South Caucasus have every chance to put pressure on Azerbaijan to break the Artsakh blockade.
"The situation in Artsakh is very difficult,” said Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, dismissing claims that the Artsakh Armenians have adapted to the situation.
“The Artsakh Armenians are living through challenging times and, unfortunately, they have been left alone to deal with this situation," the opposition MP stressed.
Speaking about the deployment of an EU monitoring mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Abrahamyan said: "A group of 100 people will begin their activity starting from February 20. It is necessary to keep the overall situation under control, to understand what functions they carry out, as well as to discuss their possible effectiveness and impact on the regional developments.”
