Armenia ready to open border with Turkey anytime, security chief says
Armenia is ready to establish diplomatic ties and open its border with Turkey at any moment, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said on Tuesday.
“Armenia is ready to open its border and normalize relations with Turkey anytime,” he told reporters in the parliament. “Two agreements have been reached, one of them concerns citizens of third countries, but no specific timeframes have been set.”
He said Armenian and Turkish officials continue discussions on the matter. “We hope it will happen as soon as possible,” Grigoryan added.
Ankara opened the Alican checkpoint on the Turkish-Armenian border for the first time in 35 years to receive the earthquake aid sent by the Armenian government on Saturday.
