Armenia's Pashinyan reiterates commitment to signing peace deal with Azerbaijan
Armenia has submitted new peace proposals to Azerbaijan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
"Yesterday, Armenia completed another stage of work on a draft agreement on peace and relations with Azerbaijan, and our proposals were submitted to the Azerbaijani side. We also passed them to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries," he said.
Pashinyan stressed Armenia is working on a draft document ready to be signed anytime.
"Understandably, the document should be acceptable to Azerbaijan as well. We hope it will be possible to build on the progress achieved during the three phases of talks. Our vision is as follows: the document should contain such a logic of agreements, a system of checks and balances which would rule out any scenario of violation of lasting peace and stability in the region,” the premier noted.
He reiterated his government's readiness to sign such a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as soon as possible.
"I am ready to take that responsibility," Pashinyan said.
