Artur Vanetsyan: I think you'll see me more often at various events in future
Homeland Party leader Artur Vanetsyan says he continues serving Armenia after resigning from the country’s parliament last year.
"If serving the homeland means being engaged in politics, then yes, I am engaged in politics," he told reporters at a forum marking the 35th anniversary of the Karabakh movement when asked if he is currently engaged in politics.
"What does it mean to be engaged in politics? I have served my country all my life, since I was 20 years old, and I continue my service. I first served as an officer of the National Security Service, then I got involved in public and political activities and will continue with it," he said.
Referring to his decision to resign his parliament seat, Vanetsyan said: "I believe that the parliament, at least for me, is no longer the place where I could effectively fight against the current government and serve our country."
When asked what he has been up to in the recent months, Vanetsyan said: "I have been dealing with party issues and holding meetings with people. Yes, we may not have been engaged in public activities, but believe me, it does not impede our public and political activities, and in the near future, I think you will see me and my colleagues at various events and on various platforms more often."
