U.S. issued old release of G7 statement in error, Japan says
Japan's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that the U.S. State Department had issued an old release of the Group of Seven (G7) nations' foreign ministers joint statement in error a day earlier, Reuters reported.
In an emailed statement, the foreign ministry said the State Department had apparently meant to send out the statement by Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi made at the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 18, but instead sent the G7 foreign ministers' joint statement from roughly five months ago.
The U.S. State Department's website referring to the statement has since been amended, Japan's foreign ministry said.
