Pashinyan: World Court confirms Azerbaijani governmnet's responsibility for Lachin blockade
Armenian Prime Mister Nikol Pashinyan has hailed the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling against the Lachin Corridor blockade as “extremely important".
The United Nations’ top court on Wednesday ordered Azerbaijan to “take all steps at its disposal” to restore unimpeded traffic along the Lachin Corridor, the only road between Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Armenia blocked since December 12.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Pashinyan said the UN court confirmed the blockade of the Lachin Corridor despite Azerbaijan’s consistent efforts to mislead the international community by claiming the corridor is not closed.
"The second important circumstance is that the court confirmed the responsibility of the Azerbaijani government for the blockade of the Lachin Corridor, effectively dismissing claims of its closure by eco-activists as non-serious, and ordered Azerbaijan to unblock the corridor," he stressed.
