U.S. ambassador to Armenia bakes famous bread with Artsakh women
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien has joined a group of women from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in baking the famous Zhingyalov hats in the Armenian town of Metsamor on Friday, the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan reported.
“Ambassador Kvien traveled to Metsamor today to meet today with families displaced by the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh fighting. She spoke with the families and joined them in baking the famous Zhingyalov hats pastries at the USAID-supported Mets and More bakery. The bakery provides employment and reintegration opportunities to the displaced families that have been residing in the Metsamor shelter since 2020,” the embassy said in a statement.
“The Ambassador also expressed deep concern for the worsening humanitarian situation in NK. The United States urges the immediate restoration of free movement along the Lachin corridor,” it added.
Zhingyalov hats is a type of flatbread stuffed with finely diced herbs and green vegetables.
