Tigran Avinyan: Yerevan mayor may have less insight into government's internal processes
Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan may have less idea about the internal processes of the Armenian government, Deputy Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan told reporters on Thursday, responding to a question why he participates in cabinet meetings instead of the mayor.
“The mayor has not worked in the government and in this building for three years as a deputy prime minister and, perhaps, has less insight into the internal processes of the government. It’s just a matter of ensuring efficiency,” said Avinyan, who served as deputy PM from 2018 to 2021.
"There is a political team in the Municipality and different people work in different areas based on the efficiency in solving problems," Avinyan said, adding that given his experience, the city hall decided that his participation in cabinet meetings would be more productive.
The deputy mayor refused to comment on the findings of a Gallup poll suggesting his approval rating has dropped.
