Jermuk residents join call against Amulsar mine exploitation
A group of organizations and individuals on Wednesday released a statement on the planned resumption of operations at the Amulsar gold mine.
The statement was signed by 22 organizations and individuals on March 1, while the number of its signatories reached 550 two days later.
Residents of the Jermuk community in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor Province have also joined the call against the Amulsar mine exploitation.
Armenia’s Ministry of Economy, the Eurasian Development Bank and Lydian Armenia, a subsidiary of the U.S.-British Lydian International, on February 22 signed a memorandum for $250 million to complete construction work at the Amulsar gold mine and purchase the necessary equipment.
