50 applicants from Artsakh missed university entrance exams in Armenia amid blockade
50 students from the Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh) could not take part in the winter round of unified entrance exams for university admissions in Armenia due to the blockade imposed by Azerbaijan, Karo Nasibyan, deputy head of the Evaluation and Testing Center at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, said on Monday.
Speaking at a news conference, he said that because of the closure of the Lachin Corridor, applicants from Artsakh could not travel to the town of Goris for unified exams.
“We don’t have problems with the graduation exams, we send them the tests, they print it out and hold the exams,” Nasibyan said. “But we do have problems with the unified exams. We are now discussing the issue and we don’t rule out that applicants from Artsakh could also be given the chance to take the exams twice in June and July.”
The Lachin Corridor, which is the sole road linking Artsakh to Armenia, has been blocked by Azerbaijan since December 12.
