Consumer rights group head chides Armenian authorities for measles outbreak
Babken Pipoyan, who runs a non-governmental consumer rights group, has criticized the Armenian authorities for the measles outbreak.
The total number of measles cases rose to 50 in the country on Monday. Most of the infected patients are children, according to the Ministry of Health.
“The number of confirmed measles cases in Armenia has reached 50. And again no one takes the blame for it,” Pipoyan, chair of the Informed and Protected Consumer NGO, wrote on Facebook.
“The cabinet doesn't discuss whether they made a mistake when they removed all the Health Inspection Body officers from the borders and now the State Revenue Committee monitors the people’s health there.
“The ministry is silent about what their "beloved" hospital did not do or did wrong to prevent the spread of the virus inside the hospital, while the inspection body has forgotten its task to carry out checks and impose sanctions,” the consumer rights activist said.
“Most importantly, there is no shortage of press releases about the reforms,” he sneered.
