Commander of Armenian-Russian Joint Group of Forces sacked
Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has dismissed the commander of the Armenian-Russian Joint Group of Forces, Major-General Tigran Parvanyan.
The presidential decree was published on Tuesday and does not provide any reasons for his dismissal.
Parvanyan took up the post in February 2018.
The Russian-Armenian Group of Forces was formally established in 2000, involving the Russian military base in Armenia and Armenia’s 5th army corps.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan blamed the "fifth column" in the army for Armenia’s defeat in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.
“I believe that these facts will be made public in the near future," he noted.
