World Wide Fund for Nature to hold Biggest Hour for Earth on March 25
On March 25, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will hold the Biggest Hour for Earth by uniting individuals, communities and businesses across the world to switch off their lights and Give an Hour for Earth, spending 60 minutes doing something positive for our planet, WWF reported on Thursday.
Since 2008 World Wide Fund for Nature Armenian branch (WWF-Armenia) has been conducting the world’s biggest environmental movement, Earth Hour, in Armenia and has shone a spotlight on the issues of climate change and nature loss.
Thousands of cities, communities and millions of individuals around the globe show their dedication to the Earth every year by turning off electricity for an hour. As landmarks and homes across the planet take part in Earth Hour’s iconic switch-off moment, people around the globe will be ‘switching off’ themselves by taking a break from their routine and everyday distractions, before deciding what they themselves can do to restore our planet.
This year Earth Hour will be held on March 25 at 20:30-21:30. Having been known for the “lights off” moment – a symbolic event to show our collective support for the planet - this year, WWF is stepping things up, by breathing new life into the Earth Hour movement and mission: to make it the biggest of all before.
Considering the already evident climate crisis, the coming years are crucial for halting irreversible nature loss and climate change. Thus, WWF highlights the urgent need to bring attention to this issue and come together to protect our planet.
“Besides saving energy by turning off the lights for one hour, Earth Hour will serve as a remarkable reminder of the importance of our planet, the need to preserve it, and the limited time we have to do all this," mentioned Zhak Niazyan, the Head of Communications and Partnership of WWF-Armenia.
WWF-Armenia calls on individuals, communities and businesses to join Earth Hour on March 25 at 20:30 by turning off the electricity and dedicating an hour to the Earth to do something positive for our planet.
Together we can do more for our planet. By uniting to save the Earth and raise awareness, together, we will build a greener future.
