Tatoyan discusses consequences of Azeri aggression with foreign journalists
Armenia’s former Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, who runs the Tatoyan Foundation for Law and Justice, on Friday met with over two dozen foreign journalists to discuss the consequences of the wars unleashed by Azerbaijan against Armenia and Artsakh, the illegal Azerbaijani invasions and the Azerbaijani policy of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh amid the blockade of its sole connection with Armenia, he said in a statement.
Tatoyan briefed them on the Azerbaijani criminal acts against border communities of Armenia and Artsakh, in particular, the fact that the local residents are unable to use their pastures, grasslands and arable lands, earn family income, etc.
“The presence of the Azerbaijani troops in itself endangers people's lives and health, therefore, according to all international requirements, they should be removed in order to restore the normal life of the civilian population,” Tatoyan stated.
He also made available the evidence of Armenian prisoners of war being illegally held in Azerbaijan, destruction of civilian settlements, torture and execution of Armenian servicemen, as well as mutilation of their bodies.
“Now – more than ever – publicizing of these issues and international dissemination of the evidence are of fundamental importance for the purpose of combating Azerbaijani falsehoods and genocidal policies,” the ex-ombudsman stressed.
The meeting was organized with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
