Artsakh army thwarts renewed Azeri advance
The Artsakh army thwarted a fresh attempt by Azerbaijani forces to advance towards the Stepanakert-Lisagor dirt road on Monday morning, the Defense Ministry of Artsakh reported.
“On March 27, at around 9am, the Azerbaijani armed forces tried to advance towards one of the heights adjacent to the Stepanakert-Lisagor dirt road,” it said in a statement. “On-duty servicemen of the Artsakh Defense Army took preventive measures to stop the advance attempt of the Azerbaijani unit.”
The command staff of the Russian peacekeeping troops was reported about the incident, the ministry added.
Earlier on Saturday, Azerbaijani troops occupied a hill near the road running parallel to the Lachin Corridor blocked by Azerbaijan for over three months. The Artsakh authorities condemned it as a gross violation of the 2020 ceasefire agreement and urged the Russian peacekeepers to take “concrete steps to eliminate its consequences.”
