Armenian ruling party wins snap elections in two communities, preliminary results show
Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party has won the snap municipal elections held in the communities of Sisian (Syunik Province) and Ani (Shirak Province) on Sunday, preliminary results released by the Central Electoral Commission show.
The votes have been counted at 61 polling stations.
Nikol Pashinyan’s party garnered 5,180 votes in Ani, while the Nation-Community Alliance, Armenian Dream Party and My Powerful Community Party received 3,134, 795 and 744 votes, respectively.
According to preliminary results, Civil Contract gained 7,325 votes in the Sisian elections. The Citizen's Decision Social-Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Armenia won 1,443 and 2,553 votes, respectively.
The voter turnout stood at 21,226 people in the two communities.
