Yerevan shopping center reopens after major fire
The Surmalu shopping center in Yerevan, which was hit by a major explosion and fire in mid-August last year, has reopened.
The Urban, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body said in a statement on Thursday the fire risks were “significantly reduced” in the market run by Yerevan Canning Factory CJSC following large-scale repairs.
“Head of the Urban, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body Garegin Khachatryan on March 30 made a decision to allow the operation of the Yerevan Canning Factory CJSC,” the statement said.
The deadly blast in the shopping center on 15 August killed 16 people and wounded 62 others.
