Opposition candidate for Armenia's ombudsperson seeks meeting with pro-government MPs
Political activist Edgar Ghazaryan, who has been nominated by the two opposition Hayastan and Pativ Unem factions in the Armenian parliament as the country’s new human rights defender, wants to hold a meeting with MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party.
In a social media post on Thursday, Ghazaryan said he had asked the Civil Contract faction head and secretary to arrange a public meeting between him and the pro-government lawmakers.
“At the same time, a meeting in another format proposed by them is acceptable to me,” he wrote.
Ghazaryan is Armenia’s former ambassador to Poland and a former chief of the Constitutional Court staff.
