Armenia explains why it dissociated from Ukraine-related part of Summit for Democracy Declaration
Armenia, India and Mexico dissociated from the Ukraine-related paragraph of the Summit for Democracy Declaration, according to the U.S. Department of State.
"We demand that Russia immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and call for a cessation of hostilities," the declaration said.
Armenia endorsed the document with a reservation from the text of its paragraph related to Ukraine.
"Since the paragraph does not comprehensively reflect all conflicts and crises and does not refer to Azerbaijan’s aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia and the occupation of certain parts of it, Armenia refrains from acceding to the paragraph," the Armenian government said in a statement.
