Opposition MP deplores NSS statement on Azeri advance
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has deplored as “dangerous” the statement of the National Security Service (NSS) on the Azerbaijani advancement towards the villages of Kornidzor and Tegh.
The NSS said in a statement on Thursday that Azerbaijan had deployed troops 100 to 300 meters across the border with Armenia in five points “without waiting for pre-arranged adjustments” and started engineering works there.
“The Armenian side approaches the situation with the logic of not allowing escalation,” it added.
In a social media post on Friday, Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, blamed the Armenian law enforcement authorities and intelligence for the Azeri advance.
"Azerbaijan does not comply with written agreements, why should it fulfil any verbal agreement?” he wrote.
“In fact, the agencies in charge with the country’s security were guided by the verbal promises of Azerbaijan, as a result of which Armenia again suffered territorial losses, while Azerbaijan took advantageous positions,” the MP stated.
