Armenian animation 'Aurora's Sunrise' wins Audience Award at Movies that Matter Festival
Armenian animation “Aurora's Sunrise” by Inna Sahakyan has taken home the Audience Award at the Movies that Matter Festival 2023 held in The Hague from 24 March to 1 April.
“We're thrilled to announce that "Aurora's Sunrise" has won the Audience Award at the Movies that Matter Film Festival,” reads a post on the film Facebook page.
“We're honored to have been a part of this year's Movies that Matter Film Festival and we're grateful to all the viewers who voted for "Aurora's Sunrise" as their favorite film. Let's continue to raise awareness of important issues and inspire change through the power of cinema,” it added.
A co-production of Armenia, Lithuania and Germany, “Aurora’s Sunrise” tells the extraordinary story of Aurora Mardiganian, who survived the Armenian Genocide as a teenager, and later came to Hollywood where she starred in a 1919 silent film based on her account of the massacre.
The film was made possible with the academic contribution of the Zoryan Institute and is based on its Oral History Archive.
