Opposition MP blasts Armenian authorities over Azeri advance
Opposition MP Gegham Manukyan has denounced the Armenian leadership for the failure to prevent the latest Azerbaijani advance into Armenian territory.
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) said Azerbaijani forces advanced up to 300 meters into Armenian territory at five sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border close to the village of Tegh in Syunik Province on March 30.
Speaking to reporters following his trip to the village, the lawmaker said the authorities did not deploy border guards to the area adjacent to the village following an agreement with Azerbaijan.
“The Azerbaijanis made sure that there was nobody in the area and advanced towards the village, seizing the community lands, pastures and villagers’ property,” stated Manukyan, who represents the opposition Hayastan faction.
The MP blamed Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s administration for the loss of Armenia’s territory and deplored the ongoing talks with Azerbaijan to “come to an agreement on some issues.”
