Swiss ambassador meets with Armenian opposition MPs
The leader of the opposition Pativ Unem (With Honor) faction in the Armenian parliament, Hayk Mamujanyan, and its member Taguhi Tovmasyan on Thursday met with Switzerland's Ambassador to Armenia Lukas Rosenkranz.
Welcoming the diplomat, Hayk Mamijanyan highlighted the deepening of the Armenian-Swiss inter-parliamentary relations and the cooperation on the international platforms, the parliament press office reported on Friday.
He touched upon the humanitarian and security problems in Artsakh caused by Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin Corridor, stressing Azerbaijani provocations indicate Artsakh can never be part of Azerbaijan.
The Armenian lawmakers emphasized the role of their international colleagues in resolving the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Speaking about the Artsakh Armenians’ security problems, the opposition leader expressed conviction that security guarantee can be ensured only after the solution of the status issue, as well as the exercise of the Artsakh people’s right to self-determination.
The Pativ Unem MPs also referred to Armenia’s domestic political problems.
Thanking the deputies, the Swiss ambassador highlighted similar meetings with opposition members as an opportunity to get informed about their viewpoints on the internal political and regional situation.
The meeting also addressed issues of bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation.
