Reporter organizes a 'fundraiser to help Armenian parliament speaker'
The Armenian parliament speaker, Alen Simonyan, has won a defamation lawsuit filed against journalist Ani Gevorgyan.
A first instance court in Yerevan has ordered Gevorgyan to refute a slanderous report about the speaker and pay him 257,000 drams.
The reporter on Tuesday organized a fundraiser outside the National Assembly building “to help raise money for Alen Simonyan.”
She held a money box with smiley faces.
"Alen Simonyan can rejoice as long as he is allowed to hold the parliament speaker’s post. After that, this case will reopen and the ruling will be overturned,” she said.
