Armenia's new ombudsperson meets with staff
Anahit Manasyan, who was installed as Armenia’s new human rights defender by the parliament’s pro-government majority on Thursday, has met with the employees of the ombudsperson’s office.
Former Ombudswoman Kristinne Grigoryan also attended the meeting held on Friday, the office reported.
"Both for me and Ms. Grigoryan, as well as for all our colleagues, the institutional approach to the structure is pivotal. Therefore, it is important for us to show – also symbolically – the need to preserve the traditions that have been formed since the establishment of this institution and are constantly improving,” Manasyan was quoted as saying at the meeting.
Incidentally, a poll conducted by Panorama.am in Yerevan has revealed that most people do not know the new ombudsperson.
