Joseph Calleja releases first sacred music album ‘Ave Maria’ conducted by Sergey Smbatyan
Joseph Calleja, the celebrated Maltese tenor and one of the most globally recognizable voices of our times, has released his new album of sacred music “Ave Maria” on Decca Classics, recorded with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of its Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan.
The album features 15 sacred arias by Verdi, Stradella, Gruber, Adam, Schubert, Rossini, Liguori, Wagner, Mascagni, Bizet, Massenet, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra reported on Monday.
The album was released on April 7, 2023 resonating with the spirit of Easter season, and is available on various music platforms.
With Joseph Calleja’s impressive recording history of many years with Decca Classics, this is the first album of the world-renowned tenor to entirely feature sacred music, while, in his own words, also being among the longest-awaited events for the artist.
