France condemns Azerbaijan's establishment of checkpoint on Lachin Corridor
The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has condemned Azerbaijan’s installation of a checkpoint on the only road connecting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia, urging Baku to honor its international commitments.
In its statement on Sunday, the ministry stressed that the setup of a checkpoint at the entrance to the new road of the Lachin Corridor “contradicts the obligations” assumed by Baku under the terms of the 2020 ceasefire agreement and “undermines the negotiation process.”
“France calls on Azerbaijan to comply with its international obligations, particularly to fulfill the binding provisional measures indicated by the International Court of Justice on February 22,” it said.
France calls for the restoration of the free movement of goods, vehicles and people along the Lachin Corridor, as well as the uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity to the Artsakh people, the ministry added.
