Gagik Tsarukyan indicted for vote buying
Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan has been indicted for vote buying and the case has been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on Tuesday.
Tsarukyan and Sedrak Arustamyan, the director of Multi Group Concern LLC, are accused of bribing voters during the 2017 parliamentary elections.
The criminal proceedings were launched back in June 2020 when Tsarukyan was an MP. He was stripped of immunity from prosecution and arrested in September 2020. Tsarukyan was released on bail of 100 million drams in October 2020.
He denied wrongdoing and called the charges against him were politically motivated.
