Artsakh president meets with new chief of Russian peacekeepers
President Arayik Harutyunyan of the Artsakh Republic on Thursday met with Colonel-General Alexander Lentsov, the newly appointed commander of the Russian peacekeeping troops in Artsakh.
“Welcoming the newly appointed commander, I emphasized the role of the Russian peacekeeping troops in the security of the people of Artsakh and ensuring stability in the region in the created military and political situation. We both underscored the need for the steady implementation of the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020,” he said in a statement.
“I conveyed the expectation of the Artsakh authorities from the Russian peacekeeping forces, that the removal of all obstacles of Artsakh-Armenia bilateral communication and security will be ensured in a short period of time, in accordance with the obligations assumed by the Tripartite Declaration.
“During the meeting, we discussed the activities of the peacekeeping troops, lifting the blockade of Artsakh, maintaining the regime of the Lachine Corridor, guaranteeing the normal functioning of vital infrastructures, and other issues,” the president added.
