FM: Azerbaijan continues to occupy Armenia's sovereign territory
Despite calls from the international community, Azerbaijan continues to violate the terms of the trilateral agreement between the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan in November 9, 2020, refusing to return the Armenian prisoners of war and civilian captives more than two years after the signing of the document, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on Friday.
Speaking at a joint press conference with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna in Yerevan, he stressed that despite Armenia's readiness to solve the pending issues through constructive negotiations, Azerbaijan continues its occupation of Armenia’s sovereign territory and its constant acts of aggression, which are provocative in nature and run counter to the statements adopted after the meetings of the countries’ leaders in Prague and Sochi.
"Armenia is committed to efforts aimed at establishing stability in the region. For this purpose, Armenia continues talks on a draft agreement on the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan,” Mirzoyan said.
“I must emphasize that the imperative to resolve all problems without the use or threat of force and to ensure the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh within the format of internationally guaranteed dialogue are pivotal for a comprehensive and long-term settlement," he added.
