Armenia-Azerbaijan talks in Washington to end today
Negotiations between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Washington are scheduled to end today. The U.S.-hosted Armenia-Azerbaijan talks began on Monday.
According to the public schedule unveiled by the U.S. State Department, Secretary of State Antony Blinken is to participate in the bilateral peace negotiation closing session with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the George Shultz National Foreign Affairs Training Center at 1:45 p.m. local time.
U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan hosted talks between Mirzoyan and Bayramov at the White House on Wednesday.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry said that during the trilateral meeting Mirzoyan underscored that Azerbaijan’s withdrawal from Armenia’s sovereign territories and addressing the issue of the rights and security of the Nagorno-Karabakh people within a mechanism of internationally guaranteed dialogue were key to a “comprehensive settlement and long-term stability in the region.”
