Air pollution exceeds safe limits in three Armenian cities
The concentration of pollutants in the air has exceeded the recommended limits in three Armenian cities, according to latest data from the Statistical Committee.
The air quality monitoring revealed that air pollution exceeded safe levels 1.5 times in the capital Yerevan and the city of Ararat in March this year. The safe limits were exceeded by 1.6 times in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri last month.
The concentration of pollutants, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide was within the accepted norms in all other settlements of Armenia.
Air pollution kills an estimated 7 million people worldwide every year, WHO data shows.
