Opposition MP: Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks remain 'fruitless'
Peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan remain “fruitless”, opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan claims.
“Although the Armenian leadership has long crossed the red lines when it comes to concessions and, seemingly, Azerbaijan should have already agreed to sign an agreement, Baku sees the rule of the current regime in Armenia as a good chance to bring Artsakh and Armenia to their knees and remove the Armenian issue from the agenda at all,” Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“Azerbaijan’s rejection of the current terms for the talks, which entail the recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan and the handover to Azerbaijan of a number of Armenian territories, indicates that it seeks more and is ready to launch fresh aggression to achieve its goals.
“The Armenian authorities’ readiness to make unilateral concessions and, in fact, to sign a new capitulation remains up in the air, while Azerbaijan is trying to legitimize its new aggression,” the MP stated.
